The Knights Templar were an extremely wealthy
order from the 12th to 16th centuries.  Their
headquarters was protected by formidable walls.
This main church of the knights, (Charola), has
sixteen sides and is gloriously decorated.
No lack of gold in the main chapel.
Unfortunately decoration was taken
too far in this notoriously ugly
window on the chapel's exterior.
