Ljubljana, Capital of Slovenia
Ljubljana's downtown includes many colorful buildings and
artistic works that suggest Slovenia's prosperity.  At the top
right you can see one of these art displays, human figures
which are suspended above the city.  Slovenia has the most
successful economy among all former Yugoslav republics,
and was the first one to join the European Union.
I was most impressed by the bright facade of the Franciscan
Church of the Annunciation, which dates back to 1660.
With the sun shining on it, this Catholic church is attractive
from every angle.  It's right in the center of Ljubljana, which
benefits from a pretty river with bridges that bisect the
Slovenian capital.
The church interior is also highly decorative.
