City of Sibiu, Transylvania
Sibiu is a reminder of Transylvania's German-Austrian
heritage.  This is the Council Tower, built in 1588.
Colorful buildings dating back centuries surround Sibiu's
main square.  Restoration is underway, with help from the
European Union, which Romania has joined.
This is hardly the general image of either Transylvania or
Romania.  No sign of Dracula in Sibiu.
But the ATM brings us back to the present, thanks to a bank
leaving no doubt about our location.
