Cordoba's
Mosque/Cathedral
Spain
Distinctive arches remind us of the Mosque's
grand design, from 787-1286.  Then the center
was converted into a Christian Cathedral, taking
over a portion of the Mosque, leaving the rest still
standing.  One of the world's unique buildings.
A view from the bell tower of the Mosque with
the Cathedral at its center.
Mosque arches lead into the Cathedral and its
main alter.  Mosque and Church now intertwine.
On the left one form of intertwining, a portion of the
Cathedral built upon the Mosque's arches.  Bell
tower on the right, which
can be climbed for great
views.
