Blue Footed Boobies
and the Masked Booby
Hood Island, the Galapagos, Ecuador
Another Galapagos highlight was meeting
the Blue Footed Booby on Hood Island.
Their feet really are blue.  There is also a Red-Footed
Booby which I never saw.  The Blue Footed Booby is a
small bird, but the boobies were not scared of us;
allowing for pictures such as this one when I am
standing on top of the bird.  Boobies can fly and fish.
Those webbed blue feet play a major role  incubating
their eggs, as will be shown on the next page.
The Masked Booby also lives on Hood Island.
That's definitely a mask around the booby's eyes.
