Bagan - Temple City
Burma/Myanmar
Bagan is estimated to have 2,000 - 3,000 Buddhist
temples, most built during the 11th to 13th
centuries.  This shimmering gold central stupa is at
the Shwezigon Pagoda, Bagan's main temple.
A wide angle view of the golden stupa.
A sitting Buddha inside Shwezigon.
More gold atop the Ananda Pahto Temple.
Inside Ananda Pahto are standing Buddhas.
Countless stupas in this style
are another feature of Bagan.

To Mandalay and Beyond
At Bagan's temples, like everywhere else, the
no shoes or socks rule never changed.  Ouch!!!
