Luang Prabang Temples
Despite lack of a King, a new golden Royal Palace
Temple is nearing completion in Luang Prabang. I chose
a side view of approximately 15 tiered roofs.
I liked this small temple surrounded by palm trees.
This is Wat Mai (New Temple), built in either 1797 or 1821.
Besides the gold pillars, the walls are covered with golden
carvings of Buddha's life plus Hindu epic scenes. Gold
temple extremism at its Luang Prabang finest.
Alternative decorations at another temple, where gold
and vivid paintings form a highly artistic combination.
This temple led with green decorations.
In summary, I greatly enjoyed walking from one lovely
temple to another in Luang Prabang, and hope the city
does not become discovered/horribly crowded. My visit
was in 1999, and the video is far more comprehensive.
